Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas and the suitcase full of cash and drugs

While Prince Harry rubs shoulders with Hollywood stars in California, his ex-love Cressida Bonas is struggling in a very different type of neighbourhood. The actress has revealed she was questioned at length by Met Police officers after a suitcase was found in her London garden that was stuffed full of drugs, cash and car keys.

The actress has revealed she was questioned at length by Met Police officers after a suitcase was found in her London garden that was stuffed full of drugs, cash and car keys.

‘A suitcase landed in my garden,’ explains Cressida, who turns 33 next week. ‘It seemed to have come from the sky. Soon after, two policemen urgently knocked on my door. Confused, I invited them in, they hurriedly went to retrieve the bag. Inside was a load of money, drugs and keys belonging to expensive cars. They inquired if the items were mine. ‘Certainly not,’ I said.’

Cressida, married to upmarket estate agent Harry Wentworth-Stanley, 32, says: ‘That evening, the policemen returned and I was interviewed for an hour.

‘Drug deals occur regularly on our street. They happen in a flash; a hand through a car window, bowed heads and hushed voices.’

Writing in The Spectator, she adds: ‘The flying suitcase incident added a touch of reality to one of my favourite pastimes, crime fiction.’

Stunned to find out my mum Amber Rudd was a hottie…

Journalist Flora Gill received a shock while unearthing some old family photographs. Flora, the daughter of late author and journalist A.A. Gill and former Home Secretary Amber Rudd, said, a little unkindly, of this picture of her mother, now 58: ‘So weird when you find young photos of your parents and discover they were once hot.’

Flora, 29, is keen on family revelations. After moving in to her late grandparents’ £3 million Kensington apartment, where she lived rent-free, she said the decor was like living on ‘the budget set of a Downton Abbey remake’.

Sheridan Smith, who judges new ITV singing competition Starstruck, says she is starstruck all the time: ‘When I was 16 and moved to London I saw a guy on the bus who was on a Dulux advert and I ran over to him so excited.’ Not as excited, perhaps, as the jobbing thesp, finally hailed as a star after years of being upstaged by an Old English Sheepdog.

Zeta on parade for the big Jubilee- US style

Since moving to La La Land, Catherine Zeta-Jones has married a Hollywood star 25 years her senior and acquired a peculiar mid-Atlantic drawl.

The Swansea-born actress is, however, keen to make clear that she’s still a loyal subject of the Queen. Zeta-Jones, 52, whose husband is Fatal Attraction star Michael Douglas, shared this mirror selfie of her wearing a U.S. army camouflage coat, complete with stars and stripes on the shoulder. However, the Oscar winner has had the words ‘God Save the Queen’ printed on the back.

‘Thank you Queen Elizabeth,’ she says, celebrating the Platinum Jubilee. ‘My favorite jacket for my favorite Queen.’ Even her spellings are American these days!

Diva saves Opera House some notes

Angela Gheorghiu and her ex-husband, the French tenor Roberto Alagna, became known as the Bonnie and Clyde of opera because of their terrible tantrums.

So the Royal Opera House will have breathed a sigh of relief that the Romanian diva, 56, agreed to wear the same dresses in last night’s premiere of Tosca that she had first worn in a 2006 staging of Puccini’s celebrated work.

Making the costumes costs many thousands of pounds and the arts venue in London’s Covent Garden is feeling the pinch after the pandemic.

‘Our casts love wearing these costumes again when they return to roles they have performed previously,’ insists a spokesman for the Royal Opera House. Despite the passing of 16 years, Gheorghiu didn’t need the dresses to be taken out much.

‘There have been delicate refurbishments and tiny detail changes to the dresses,’ the spokesman explains diplomatically. ‘Overall, it’s the same gown.’

BBC star Justin Webb expects a show of support from his fellow Radio 4 Today presenters at the West End launch party for his memoirs tonight. ‘The event is early in the evening, so there’s absolutely no excuse for any of my colleagues not to attend, no matter how ungodly an hour their alarm is set for the next morning,’ chuckles the 61-year-old author of The Gift Of A Radio: My Childhood And Other Train Wrecks. ‘I’ll be most disappointed if there are any no-shows.’ They have been warned . . .

John Cleese is not surprised that President Putin is on the brink of sparking World War III, as the Monty Python star is always suspicious of world leaders of short stature. Highlighting the 5ft 7in Russian’s meeting in Moscow with French head of state Emmanuel Macron [5ft 8in], Cleese comments: ‘I’ve only just realised that Vladimir Putin is even tinier than Macron, our favourite French rodent. Interesting, considering that nobody in world history who ever caused any trouble was more than 5ft 8in.’ Then again, if you’re 6ft 5in like Cleese, everyone must seem short.

Jade’s Kate excitement

Designer Jade Holland Cooper was so thrilled that the Duchess of Cambridge chose to wear one of her sweaters she put one on herself, before boasting about her royal customer online.

‘So I’m wearing this jumper for obvious reasons,’ gushes Jade, 35. ‘It’s a hugely momentous moment. All the hard work makes it worthwhile.’

As soon as Kensington Palace released photographs of Catherine wearing the £179 Fair Isle knit by country outerwear brand Holland Cooper, while she read a bedtime story for CBeebies to be shown this Sunday, the garment sold out. Jade adds: ‘We will bring it back soon.’
